Summary
A spontaneous stop in Una, Himachal Pradesh turns into a quiet walking journey through gurudwaras, street art, and everyday life. This solo walk reveals how unexpected places can offer grounding, simplicity, and spiritual calm.
A Small Sacred Pause
When you step down from the bus at the Una bus station, as a female solo traveler, with the travel plan mostly spontaneous, to get your bearings, walk to Gurudwara Sri Damdama Sahib.
This is more of a small room at the Indian Oil Petrol Pump. It is said that Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the sixth spiritual teacher of the Sikhs, came here and rested in the garden. Here you can ground yourself spiritually in solitude and leave energized.
Walking Route
Then walk a little further towards the road above on your right. You will see a bright green painting of dervishes near which there is a large makeshift stall. Here you can buy yourself scrunchies and bindis, among many other things.
Moments Worth Capturing
Take a street picture of yourself or ask the many people on the street for a better one. Keep walking further to the beautiful red- and- white Head Post Office building for selfies with it and the cute postman painting on it. Enjoy the beauty of the building and smile at the painting in the shade of the nearby closed shops at noon.
Finding Peace
As you keep walking, you will find the Gurudwara associated with Mahant Baba Tara Singh Ji (Model Town Hoshiarpur). The family taking care of the Gurudwara is extremely friendly, hospitable and considerate. You can meditate in peace in the Gurudwara hall.
