If you find yourself awake at 8 am before your friends, go for a morning walk towards Jhelum View park near Parcel Booking Counter, GPO. The view is of mountains, greenery, a mosque and shikaras moored on the river.
The Road from Srinagar to Pahalgam
Beejbihara is called the land of apples. There is possibly the cleanest washroom at a petrol pump and apple juice shops en route Pahalgam. Depending on which month you go, you may get fresh apple juice or apple juice made from apples stored after the harvest season. Betaab Valley is a beautiful large area in Pahalgam with a river, snow-clad and tree-covered mountains, white and pink flowers, yellow dandelions, and grazing horses. It is a picturesque sight with the sky the most beautiful shade of blue and artistic clouds. Before leaving, nearby the bridge, you can find a spot to sit with your feet in the water. There are also smartly dressed goats to take paid pictures with.
From Betaab Valley to Aru Valley
The road from Betaab valley to Aru valley has a waterfall visible in the distance. After having visited Betab valley, Aru Valley seems disappointing despite its large grassland, river, trees-laden and snow-clad mountains.
Refreshing Glacier Water
On the way back, our cab driver pointed out a glacier-fed stream beside the road. We along with another car occupants, filled empty water bottles with glacier water. You will be amazed by how water actually is supposed to be tasteless and refreshing. Dip your feet in the shallow waters to be energized by its coldness.
If you like monument ruins, visit Awantiswamy temple at Avantipur on the way back from Pahalgam. At 7 pm mid-April the sky is lit aflame over it.
